STORY
Our founder and CEO shares her experience of starting Secret Saviours
Where it all began
I met Stephen Barker, our inventor and a vascular surgeon, when I was working in advertising and he was a consultant at UCL Hospital.
Having suffered physically and mentally with stretch marks in both of my pregnancies, I jumped at the chance to bring his invention to market and help other women suffering from the same issues as me.
I left my job and we raised investment, clinically trialled and developed the product and built a team. Secret Saviours was officially launched in 2015 and by 2016 we’d won the prestigious Project Baby Awards for Skincare and Innovation.
My mission is to save as many women as possible from stretch marks and prevent anyone else feeling as I did about my body after pregnancy.
I love and respect the fact that some women are able to embrace their stretch marks
but, unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for me. I struggled with body confidence and my scarred tummy and even now, after 20 years, I won't take my clothes off with the lights on or wear a bikini.
Secret Saviours is the first product on the market that gives women a real choice about whether to fight them or not.
Looking to the future
To date, I’m very proud to say that we've saved over 10,000 women in the UK from stretch marks, many of whom have written to tell us how happy they are with their stretch mark free bodies. You can read what some of them have to say in our review section.
We are so excited to be launching our collection of new-generation maternity shapewear. Our extended range continues to use ground-breaking skincare technology to prevent stretch marks, with the introduction of a maternity bra, leggings, and shorties. We like to think we are offering “life-changing wear for when a woman’s life is changing the most” – empowering expectant mothers to take control of their pregnancy skin.
The Secret Saviours team is expanding and is made up of fantastic mums, dads and medical professionals who are as passionate as I am about helping women prevent stretch marks.
