The Secret Saviours C-section Brief: what to check before buying

  • 3 min read

The Secret Saviours C-section Recovery Briefs are designed around everyday clothing comfort after a caesarean: a high waistband, a smooth lower-front panel and a wider gusset for maternity pads and dressings. The support is gentle, without compression.

That last point matters. These are not a compression binder, a wound dressing or a treatment for a scar.

Before ordering, look at the features alongside your own recovery needs. A garment can sound ideal on a page and still need a careful fit check.

What is different about the front panel?

The lower-front panel is smooth, intended to reduce rubbing around the sensitive area. Look at the photographs on the C-section Recovery Briefs product page to see where that panel sits in relation to the waistband and leg openings.

Your incision, dressing and body proportions may be different from the model’s. The useful question is where the garment sits on you.

If a seam or edge presses on the wound area, do not try to put up with it because the briefs are described as recovery underwear. Get advice about a better fit or a different option.

Why a wider gusset?

The gusset is designed to accommodate maternity pads and dressings. A pad still needs to sit securely and comfortably in the garment you choose.

Underwear does not take over the job of a dressing. Keep following the instructions your maternity team gives you about caring for the wound and changing or removing dressings.

For broader recovery advice, including clothes, movement and asking for help, see the NHS caesarean recovery guidance.

When can you wear C-section Recovery Briefs?

There is no single starting day that suits every recovery. Ask your midwife or maternity team when this type of underwear is appropriate for you, particularly while the incision is fresh or you have a dressing in place.

Gentle support does not mean you should size down. The aim is comfortable wear without unwanted pressure, not holding your abdomen as tightly as possible.

If you have been advised to use a specific medical garment, check before substituting ordinary recovery briefs.

Settle sizing before choosing a multipack

Use guidance that applies specifically to this product. Do not assume that the pregnancy Band or Brief measurements on a shared size guide also apply to the C-section range.

If you cannot find a clear product-specific measurement chart, contact Secret Saviours before ordering. Ask which measurements to take, how to choose between sizes and how the fit should feel after birth. Giving the product name avoids advice intended for a different garment.

Read the current returns policy before trying on underwear. Keep tags and any hygiene protection intact as instructed. This is especially useful if you are buying well ahead of your due date.

How do you wash the briefs?

The product page specifies a 30°C wash and air drying. Check the care label on the pair you receive and plan enough drying time between wears.

A larger pack may suit your laundry arrangements, but quantity comes after suitability. Confirm the size and feel first where possible.

If you develop increasing wound pain, redness, swelling, discharge or feel concerned about your recovery, contact your maternity team or GP promptly. Changing underwear is not the answer to a wound problem.
