Lean on meat
Lean meat is a great source of nutrients during pregnancy. So you can relish that steak treat every once in a while. But medium-rare is not an option.
Enjoy!
Serves: 4-6
Time: 15 minutes prep; 12 minutes cooking
Good for: Protein, Vitamins B6 and B12, iron, zinc
Ingredients
2 tbsp butter, at room temperature
1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme, or 1 tsp dried
1 tbsp chopped fresh rosemary, or 1 tsp chopped dried
1 tsp grated lemon zest
Salt and pepper
2 rib eye steaks, about 1½ to 2 lbs
Method
• In a small bowl, mix the butter, thyme, rosemary, lemon zest, salt and pepper and set aside.
• Light a charcoal or gas grill until red hot, or pre-heat a broiler for 4 minutes.
• Season the steaks with salt and pepper and cook the meat until it reaches an internal temperature of 160º when measured with a meat thermometer. (Steak well-done is a must during pregnancy.)
• Remove to a platter and spread the herb butter on top of the hot steaks. Thinly slice before serving, spooning the butter on top.
And that’s that!
