June 29, 2015

After helping you dodge a financial bullet with our Which? post, we thought we’d show you where to buy the top 10 useful baby products

1. Stair gate

Voted the most useful item according to more than 2,000 parents in the know, the stair gate is great for keeping little ones out of mischief. Mothercare offers an impressive selection, including this Blokit Safety Gate (£29.99). It’s extendable, so it can be fitted in various widths.

2. Audio baby monitor

Providing peace of mind, the baby monitor has been putting parents at ease since 1937! It’s come a long way, baby. Check out this Motorola MBP8 Digital Audio Baby Monitor (£21.99, Tesco Direct). This clever gadget comes with high sound clarity and a five-light LED display for visual sound notifications.

3. Electric steam steriliser kit

This is the second best set ever – next to our Anti Stretch Mark Pack, of course. Available at John Lewis is the Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Steam Steriliser (£29.99). It includes the steriliser (which can hold up to six Closer To Nature bottles), a feeding bottle, a pair of tongs and a soother. Bargain.

4. Baby change bag

You’ll soon realise you can’t travel far without one of these. So do it in style with this Storksak Tote from House Of Fraser (£70). Made from water-repellant nylon, it’s lightweight and roomy. Plus we love the colour contrast.

5. Video baby monitor

Take things up a notch with a video monitor, such as this BT BM 7000 from Kiddicare (£119.99). According to BT, this is the first fully touch screen product available. Its HD sound and impressive screen resolution make it a must-have, and its super-cute design means it blends well with the nursery décor or your bedroom’s. It also plays lullabies to your little one. It’s like a digital nanny!

6. Baby sleep bag

It’s the new ‘It’ bag! Try this Baby Mine Organic Grobag (from £34.99, Grobag). Available in 3.5, 2.5 and 1.0 tog options, the bag is made with a 100% organic jersey cotton lining and outer and comes with a free Nursery Thermometer. It’s also British Standards approved.

7. Digital ear thermometer

Speaking of thermometers, get an accurate reading with Summer Infant’s Digital Ear Thermometer, available at Littlewoods (£25). Fast and easy to use, it is probe-free and comfortable to use.

8. Microwave steam steriliser kit

This little genius is the gift that keeps on giving. Philips ‘ Avent Microwave Steam Steriliser (Boots, £26) has been designed to fit most microwaves and is convenient for travel, so you’re always ready for a hungry baby, no matter where you are. It includes the steriliser and a pair of tongs.

9. Baby bouncer/rocker chair

Keep the little one entertained and sleepy with this Wave Rocker Catch A Star by Mamas & Papas (£63.95). With its head hugger, offering added support to your newborn, three recline positions, four high-quality lullabies and a gentle and soothing vibration function, this gem is a steal.
